[Men's Swimming and Diving] Josh Bouma earned CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-America honors
AUSTIN, Texas – Josh Bouma was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as a 2018 Second Team Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division Men's and Women's At-Large Teams. Bouma helped lead the Olivet Nazarene University men's swimming and diving team to two NAIA National Championships during his tenure as a Tiger.
Bouma graduated in May with a degree in economics and finance, finishing with a 3.55 GPA. During his career, Bouma helped led the Tigers the University's first ever NAIA National Championship in 2016. During Bouma's four seasons, the Tigers captured the title twice, also adding a runner-up finish and a third place finish.
Individually, Bouma finished his career as a six-time NAIA All-American honoree. In 2018, he helped the Tigers capture the 800 Free Relay title, also adding a runner-up finish in the 200 Freestyle and third in the 500 Freestyle. As a junior, Bouma added All-America performances in the 800 Free Relay and the 200 Freestyle. His first trip to the podium was in 2016 with a third place finish in the 1650 Freestyle.
Bouma was also a two-time NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division At-Large Teams includes student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
The at-large program for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division Men's At-Large Team produced an average GPA of 3.94 with the first team combining for an average GPA of 3.97. The team includes 11 student-athletes with 4.0 GPA and three graduate students.
