[Swimming & Diving] Bees honor seniors during final home meet of the season

During its final home meet of its inaugural season, St. Ambrose recognized its three seniors competing at the Davenport Central pool for the final time.

Jackson Green, Andrew Ottenfeld and Maddie Seutter were honored during an intermission of the Bees' dual against Lincoln College Friday night.

The SAU men ultimately defeated Lincoln 147-69 while the women fell 111-81.

Along with Senior Day, the other highlight of the day was David Hall qualifying for nationals in the 200-yard backstroke with his first-place time of 1:58.46. The Bees now have four swimmers with National "A" cuts, and all 10 relays between the men's and women's teams have also qualified.

Jonathan Whittle won two individual events - the 50-yard freestyle in 22.03 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 49.22 seconds. Jason Schuler touched second in the 50 free in 22.83 seconds.

Nathan Kuszynski, who finished second to Hall in the 200-yard backstroke, won the 1650-yard freestyle in 16:55.68. Justin Fales took second.

Fales won the 500-yard freestyle event in a time of 4:58.74. 

The Bees finished 1-2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle, with Noah Hoogestraat winning in a time of 1:55.84. Hall took second and Drew Waters placed third.

SAU also went 1-2 in the 100-yard butterfly with Josh Fleming (56.55 seconds) edging teammate Alec Schanz.

Mitch Berendes won the other individual event, taking the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.13.

St. Ambrose also won two men's relays. 

The team of Hall, Berendes, Schuler and Fleming won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:43.51, and Kuszynski, Fleming, Fales and Whittle won the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:22.62.

Diego Hernandez took second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.85. Max Finley finished third and Green was fourth.
