[Swimming & Diving] SAU swimming and diving team back in pool to battle Coe
Competing for the first time in a month-and-a-half, the St. Ambrose men defeated Coe 111-71 Friday night at the Davenport Central pool. The women fell to the Kohawks 117-67.
Nathan Kuszynski and Josh Fleming each won a pair of events for the Bee men. Kuszynski took the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:45.39 and later won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:51.04. Fleming edged teammate Jonathan Whittle for first place in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. Fleming touched first in times of 22.39 and 50.07 seconds while Whittle was second in 22.56 and 51.03 seconds, respectively.
Jason Schuler and David Hall also won individual events for SAU. Schuler won the 100-yard butterfly in 54.52 seconds, and Hall won the 100-yard backstroke event in 57.38 seconds.
Hall, Mitch Berendes, Schuler and Whittle teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:41.94. Berendes, Schuler, Hall and Fleming took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:33.96.
Berendes added a runner-up individual finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.51).
On the women's side, Andrea Adam continued her diving dominance, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. She compiled 255.75 points in the 1-meter event and 167.55 points in the 3-meter dive. Taylor Madison was second in the 1-meter event with 232.45 points.
Shraddha Sudhir won the 200-yard individual medley with a finishing time of 2:17.64. Maddie Seutter won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:10.15 and was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:17.06.
Laura Williams also earned a second-place finish, touching second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:21.51.
