LAURINBURG, N.C. - The St. Andrews University women's soccer team dropped their hard-fought NAIA non-conference match to Dalton State College (Ga.) 1-0 at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Dalton State got on the board early in the first half with a goal by Kelce Snyder in the 12th minute as she barely beat a diving SAU keeper, Rachel Widdicks (SR/Hull, England).

SAU missed a few chances in the opening half to tie the matchup, but just missed the net. An early spurt in the second half saw SAU outshoot the Roadrunners 3-0 and barely miss tying the ball game. Both halves saw each team attempt four shots apiece with the final tally being 8-8.

Freshmen Aiyanna Woods-Clark (FR/Albuquerque, NM) and Tatiana Kendzulak (FR/Currituck, NC) led the Knights in shots with two apiece while sophomore Talia Swartbooi (JR/Johannesburg, South Africa) had one on goal. Junior Liz Garner (JR/Huntingtown, MD), playing the first half as a midfielder, also attempted two shots and just missed the goal.

Goalkeepers, Widdicks and Garner, combined to make two saves on three shots on goal.

St. Andrews falls to 0-4 while Dalton State improves to 4-1-1.

St. Andrews will remain home to host Reinhardt University (Ga.) on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
