A Viking Funeral for a Freeride Icon: Brage Vestavik Says Goodbye to GT

0 12

After half a decade of heart-stopping riding, high-profile projects, and globe-spanning videos, Norwegian freeride legend Brage Vestavik has announced that he is parting ways with GT Bicycles. Vestavik’s announcement marks the end of a significant chapter for both rider and brand.

Vestavik first joined GT in 2020, quickly becoming one of the most recognizable faces of the brand thanks to his raw energy, creative style, and fearless approach. From X-Games Real MTB to his latest video offering, Trolldom, Brage and GT turned the industry upside down and redefined what is possible on a bike year after year. From taking on the Jah Drop to legendary big-mountain parts like Planet Alaska, Brage pushed the envelope time and time again, all aboard his GT Fury.

In his farewell message—shared across his social channels and accompanied by a highlight reel—Vestavik reflected on what the partnership meant to him:

As one final sendoff with the brand, Brage compiled some of his gnarliest clips from the last few years, giving his time with GT the Viking funeral it deserved. As the industry continues to struggle and riders are displaced one after another, this unfortunate announcement feels par for the course.

As Vestavik closes this door, fans are already speculating on what’s next for the Norwegian freerider—whether he’ll join another major brand, double down on independent projects, or forge an entirely new path. Whatever direction he takes, we wish Brage the best and are excited to see what’s next for one of freeride’s most influential figureheads.
