Help Us Save the Burnaby Velodrome – Join the Movement!

The Burnaby Velodrome, a cornerstone of our cycling community and the only indoor track of its kind in Western Canada, is at a crossroads. The City of Burnaby has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a new operator of the Harry Jerome Sports Centre (HJSC) — the home of the velodrome for over 25 years.

Cycling BC is calling on our broader community to take action.

We have a unique opportunity to rally support and show decision-makers the powerful and diverse community that the velodrome serves — not just elite athletes, but youth, masters riders, families, and newcomers to the sport. Unlike competing bids, our strength lies in our people, our passion, and our community impact.

Here’s how you can help:

Submit a Letter of Support
Tell your personal story. What has the Burnaby Velodrome meant to you, your family, your club, or your community? How has it shaped your cycling journey or your connection to sport?

Send your letter to taskforce@burnabyvelodrome.ca

Make a 30-Second Video
Film a short clip sharing your experience and why the velodrome matters. Whether it’s training in winter, coaching youth, or finding a second family on the track — your voice counts.

Send your letter to taskforce@burnabyvelodrome.ca

Have Other Skills or Connections?
Are you experienced with RFPs, grants, sponsorship, or community organizing? Let us know!

Use this quick Google Form to show your support and get involved:

The deadline for submission of our proposal is Oct 2 2025, so time is short — we need your input by September 3 2025 (Wednesday)  to make the strongest case possible.

Together, we can ensure that this incredible facility continues to serve generations of cyclists to come.

On behalf of the Burnaby Velodrome Task Force and Cycling BC — thank you for standing with us.

Weekly Learn to Race Sessions

Looking to start racing or maybe just don’t wanna make the trip down to the States for the JBMV Races? Starting on August 22nd we’re swapping our weekly structured motorpacing sessions out for Learn to Race sessions every Friday night from 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM.

These sessions are perfect for anyone looking to give track racing a try. Our coaches will teach you the four standard endurance omnium races (scratch, tempo, elimination, and points), along with all the essential bike skills required to race them. If you’ve already completed the Learn to Race in the past, this is always a great refresher and an even better workout!

That’s all for now, see you next month!
