Georgian Bay Women’s Cycling Club: Where Friendships Form and Confidence Blossoms
GBWCC all started when a small group of friends who enjoyed riding together decided to expand their circle. In 2017, these friends set out around town hanging up posters to spread the word about their club and it grew from there!
Georgian Bay Women’s Cycling Club is a social club designed for women in the Midland-Penetanguishene area who are looking to participate in road and gravel rides. The club has a group of experienced Ride Leaders that host beginner/no-drop rides on Monday evenings to help women meet fellow cyclists, get a bit of a workout, discover awesome bike routes, and become more skilled and confident on bikes. On Wednesday evenings, they run a longer, paced ride for women who want to explore and push their skills a little further. From time to time, they even run coffee rides on weekend mornings to spend more time together, find new coffee spots and start their weekend mornings right!
The members of GBWCC like to collaborate with their local communities, and you will often find them assisting with Bike Rodeos or fundraising for the local Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre during the annual Cycle for Hope ride.
Thinking of joining a club? GBWCC wants to remind you, don’t be afraid to ask questions, show up solo, or be a beginner. You don’t need any special spandex apparel or fancy bike so just dive in and give it a try!
If this hasn’t sold you yet, Georgian Bay Women’s Cycling Club prides themselves on being a welcoming and inclusive space for women who want to ride their bikes. They focus on building confidence, community, and a love for the beautiful Georgian Bay region through group rides.
If you’re looking for a welcoming cycling community that values enjoyment over competition, Georgian Bay Women’s Cycling Club is for you!
