Tour de Riding Mountain: Event Update (May 30, 2025)
Tour de Riding Mountain Moving Forward This Weekend
The Tour de Riding Mountain is set to move forward as planned this weekend in Dauphin! While we’re all mindful of the ongoing wildfire situation affecting parts of Manitoba, current conditions in the Dauphin area remain stable, and we’re continuing to monitor the forecast and air quality closely.
Our thoughts are with the communities impacted by wildfires, and we’re incredibly grateful to the emergency crews working tirelessly across the province. The health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and supporters remain our top priority, and we’re committed to making this a safe and enjoyable event for everyone involved.
Current Conditions and Safety
Fortunately, Dauphin’s conditions remain stable, and we are closely monitoring air quality and weather reports to ensure the health and safety of all participants, volunteers, and spectators. For the latest air quality updates, please refer to Manitoba’s Air Quality Health Index.
While wildfire smoke levels vary, we encourage everyone attending the event to be aware of the signs of smoke exposure, such as coughing, shortness of breath, or irritation of the eyes or throat. If you experience any of these symptoms, please seek medical attention promptly and notify event staff.
Recommended Precautions:
-
Hydrate frequently: Hot weather and smoky conditions can increase the risk of dehydration. While water stations will be available at the turnaround points of both the 100km and 60km routes, we strongly encourage all riders to come prepared with plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout the ride.
-
Pace yourself: Listen to your body, take breaks, and adjust your effort if needed.
-
Consider a mask: If you are sensitive to smoke or have respiratory issues, consider bringing a mask for added protection.
-
Monitor your health: If you feel unwell before or during the event, please prioritize your health and safety.
Event Logistics & Rider Options
We understand that some riders may feel more comfortable adjusting their race distance due to the conditions. If you are registered for the 100km ride but would like to switch to the 60km option, you can do so easily during check-in on race day. Our goal is to ensure everyone enjoys a safe and positive experience tailored to their comfort and ability.
We recommend familiarizing yourself with the course map and rest stops ahead of time. For registration details, parking, and event start times, please visit our event page.
Community Support and Ongoing Updates
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to the Dauphin community for their warm hospitality and support, especially in these challenging times. Their collaboration helps make this event possible and enjoyable for all.
Our team will continue to monitor wildfire developments and weather conditions closely. Should any significant changes occur that impact the event, updates will be posted promptly on the Manitoba Cycling Association website and social media channels.
Looking Forward
Despite the challenges presented by the wildfire season and heat, we are excited to welcome cyclists, volunteers, and supporters to Dauphin for a weekend of camaraderie, healthy competition, and community spirit. We encourage all participants to prepare well, prioritize safety, and enjoy the ride.
