I participated in a women’s TTT in 2022 after being inspired by a cyclist I admired (Rosa Philips). TTT exposed me to a whole new world of cycling I didn’t know existed!
I was terrified when I was signing up about the bank of the track and the fact my bike had no breaks! YIKES!
However, I was immediately calmed by the amazing coaches (Alyssa and Emillie) as they took everything step by step explaining all the ins and outs of my bike, and the track.
Once we got rolling, I immediately fell for this sport. I loved the feeling of pushing through corners, riding with others and naturally going as fast or as slow as my heart and legs desired. This new freedom launched me into the certification classes with NCIM. These classes expanded on my skills, from the foundation up. By the time I was fully certified I felt a real confidence and an itching need for speed!
I started structured training right after, invested in a track bike of my own and within a few months registered for Individual race events for my first track Ocup!
Since that TTT I’ve continued training and racing, most recently earning several podiums, including 2 Provincial Championship titles!
The part that really sold me about women’s try the track day was that this space truly is for all levels of women who want to grow as a cyclist.
The class had women who mountain bike, gravel trail riders and even casual commuters all come together to learn a new skill.
Track riding builds a level of bike control, confidence and straight up booty power that I haven’t experienced in other areas of cycling. All while connecting you to other like-minded amazing women who just love to ride.
I encourage all women to give the track a try. Overcome your fear, push through the corners, and fall in love with something you didn’t know you could do.
