OC Women’s Spotlight – Anne Bastin

0 17

How long have you been in cycling?

I became a cyclist when I got my first good road bike in 2010, but I was biking since I was a child.

How did you get into cycling?

My grandfather was regularly going to Europe and Virginia to cycle and I was dreaming about doing the same. As a teen, I started riding more often and longer routes because I wanted to get stronger so I could ride with him. He gave me his old custom made steel road bike when he saw that I was biking enough and that propelled me into the cycling world.

What is your favorite discipline?

Gravel biking on singletracks.

Who is your favorite cyclist?

My favourite cyclist is Rachel Atherton.

What has been your favorite event in 2024?

The Gravel Bikepacking Challenge (Eastern Townships).

What is something you want to see in the future of cycling?

Female-male parity. More girls being recognized for doing what they do the same way men are. More excitement around girls racing and more research/emphasis on training/riding during pregnancy.
