Join the TPT Circular Route Campaign

We are thrilled to announce a brand new campaign that we’re launching this year aimed at providing circular routes across the Trans Pennine Trail, enhancing the overall experience for all our visitors. This initiative is designed to create a network of routes that allow all our users the chance to explore the beauty of the Trail in a more engaging way with a circular route, rather than our standard linear routes.

The primary objective of our campaign is to develop circular tours that offer diverse and scenic options for all users, providing a convenient and enjoyable way to experience the Trail without the need to retrace your steps.

We are calling upon our dedicated Local Authority Officers, Friends of the TPT, Volunteers and Users to help us identify potential circular routes in your area – or even beyond.  If you have a favourite route that you believe would make an excellent addition to our circular tours, we want to hear from you!  All we need is a map and some accompanying text describing the route. Don’t worry if you don’t have text; maps alone are also welcome. Our team will review each submission to assess its viability for the program. We acknowledge that circular routes offer numerous advantages for both our users and the Trail itself:

  • Variety and Exploration: Circular routes encourage exploration and discovery, allowing visitors to experience different parts of the Trail without retracing their steps.
  • Convenience: Starting and ending at the same point makes logistics easier, especially those using public transportation or planning day trips.
  • Sustainability: By promoting circular routes, we can encourage more local use rather than having to travel by car, train, etc.
  • Community Engagement: This campaign fosters a sense of community by involving Trail users in the creation and promotion of new routes.

Submitting your route for consideration is simple and straightforward. Follow these easy steps:

  • Prepare a map of your proposed circular route. This can be a line on a paper map photographed and sent in, a digital map, or a screenshot from a mapping application.
  • Include any relevant details about the route, such as parking, landmarks, and points of interest. If you do not have text, simply submit the map.
  • Include any great photos of the different points of interest.
  • Send your submission to our team at info@transpenninetrail.org.uk
  • Our team will review the submission, assess its viability, and provide feedback or further questions if necessary.

We believe that the best way to improve the Trail is through the collective efforts and insights of our community. By participating in this campaign, you will help us create a more dynamic and enjoyable Trail experience for everyone. Whether you are an officer, one of our supporters or a user, your contributions are invaluable.

Together, let’s make the Trail more accessible, diverse, and engaging with these new circular tours. We look forward to your submissions and to exploring the wonderful routes you propose.
