Cyclocross is coming to Preston Park

0 4

It’s time to get muddy. Preston Park will be hosting the 9th (and final) round of the London and South East Cyclocross League on Sunday 2nd February.

Cyclocross is racing on drop handlebar bikes with knobbly mud tyres on a tight circuit with a variety of surfaces – dirt, tarmac, gravel, grass. It is amazing (if somewhat muddy) fun.

As it’s our home race, we would like to see as many PPYCC riders as possible on the start line. We already have 8 riders signed up so it would be great to see that reach into double figures.

Any bike is fine, as long as it has grippy tyres (so no slicks), including mountain and hybrid style bikes. Most cyclocross riders start on flat handlebars before moving onto drop bars. PPYCC does have some bikes available for loan if your child would like to give it a go.

You can sign up for the race here. Cyclocross races are great value at just £4 to enter.

If parents would like to slap on some lycra and join the bunch then there are adults races too. Many current and former PPYCC parents race each week.

If you would like any advice on getting your child involved in cyclocross racing, then please speak to any of the club coaches or email the chair.
