Winter Series x Bare Bones: Ready to Race?

Friday Night Winter Series

We hope the warmup races have gotten your legs in gear because the Friday Night Winter Series starts this week on October 4th! Every race counts toward overall series standings, with the podium finishers from each category winning some prizes at the end of the series.

More details about the winter series will be posted on on our website and social media as they’re finalized in the coming weeks.

That also makes now the best time to pick up a Friday Night Race pass to make sure you’re all set for the rest of the Friday Night Racing season (Winter + Spring).

Bare Bones Racing

Mark your calendars! Bare Bones is tentatively scheduled for November 15–17!

If you’re new to the track, Bare Bones is a fun, laid-back weekend of racing, perfect for learning and improving. It’s also a chance to test your speed and skill against racers from across Western Canada and the US in a slightly more competitive setting than our typical Friday Night races.

More information will be available soon on our website and socials, so stay tuned!

Bike Stall Update

With the track season starting, it’s also time to get organized. We’re going through all the bike stalls under the track to make sure everything is in order.

If you have a bike stall, please email Neil Salway at neil@burnabyvelodrome.ca with your stall number to confirm your spot and avoid losing it. Remember, bike stalls are reserved for members with an active track pass.

Get Involved in a Heat Training Study

For the past few months Normand Richard has been writing a our bi-monthly sports science blogs aimed at helping you separate fact from fiction on sports science topics from wearable temperature sensors to caffeine. But now it’s your chance to be a part of the science!

Normand is looking for female cyclist/triathletes for a heat training study. Right now only 18% of heat trials include women and they want to change that. Their study includes 5-weeks of home heat training and 3 lab visits.

If you’re interested, contact Normand at normand_richard@sfu.ca.

That’s all for now, see you next month!
