Today’s GoBike ride, new infrastructure, getting up close to Arria and, of course, the Falkirk Wheel

Despite the return of winter after the summer we enjoyed yesterday, those of us who ventured out saw this amazing statue from close up:

Our ride took us up what we could get to of the new Pitt Street cycle lane, over the new Sighthill pedestrian cycle bridge and then on to the north east of the city, where there is a new cycle lane on Broomfield Road, before we turned to go along Wallacewell Road and towards Cumbernauld.

We cycled along paths in Cumbernauld, some good, some not so good, before getting on to the canal path to continue east to the Falkirk Wheel, magnificent as always but perhaps looking a bit grubby around the edges:

Then, after lunch at the Wheel, we split, some going to Falkirk High, and the rest of us going to Larbert, for a train back to Glasgow.
Next month’s ride will take us west, with the first GoBike ride over the new Govan-Partick bridge, which opens to the public next weekend.
