The Favourites

With an uphill start and then a long climb if the break doesn’t go quickly, we should see a strong break of climbers. UAE doesn’t have the team to put a stranglehold on would be attackers so there’s every chance a GC type a bit back on time gets into the break. The other possibility is the break still hasn’t been established until the Capistrello and if that’s the case, there’s an outside chance Pog decides to join in the fun. More likely though a break gets away and the strongest are those that lose enough time on GC after the TT to be let go. The two Italian P’s in Pellizzari and Piganzoli along with a Parrot or two will be looking to this stage. Bardet if he’s lost enough time plus Schachmann might be good bets. Also it’s now KoM time so Storer, Q, Piccolo and Tarzan are all good bets to make the break.

Chances are though that it will come back enough for Pog to take the win. From a PG perspective though there’s every chance that some from the break will hold on for top 10 spots so points wise, it’s a typical 2 GC riders/2 breakaways stage.

Riders score points down to 10th place. Less popular riders score more points than heavily-picked favourites. See below for scoring details.

The strict entry deadline is the official start time of the race, the neutralized roll-out or Départ Fictif. Be warned - if your post is timestamped one minute late your entry won't count! So do remember that there's no disadvantage to getting an entry in early, even the day before, because you may always change your picks up until the deadline. Feel free to rethink your picks when it emerges which riders are more or less popular with other players. If you make changes, post your revised 4 picks in a reply to your original post.
