Racing roundup

0 28

Well done to all our members who were out racing this weekend. The two big events were the National Circuit Racing Series at Redbridge and the start of the Triathlon England South East Series at Woking.

Well done to Alex and Harley in the U14s and to Luca, Hadley, Milo, Eddy and Noah in U16s for their immense efforts at Redbridge. With big fields and many of our riders impeded by crashes this was tough racing. There were impressive efforts by all which included a great attack by Luca and Eddy who stayed away for several laps before being caught, holding off a 100-strong field in the U16s.

Congratulations also to our triathletes Jess (7th in Tristars 1), Vincent (9th in Tristars 2) and Cooper (15th in Tristars 3) for their excellent performances at Woking. This was the first in the summer-long Triathlon England South East Series, this one being a swim-run event, the only race of the series without a bike leg. They are all no doubt looking forward to showing off their excellent cycling skills in the rest of the series!

If any PPYCC riders need additional inspiration as we go into a new week, they need look no further than what our ex-riders have been up to recently.

Dylan Hicks won the Stars of the South West U23 National Road Race for his team Saint Piran; Luke Goodwill won this weekend’s Surrey Cycle Racing League road race riding for Train Sharp Development Team; and Lukas Nerurkar has had a memorable few weeks, with his efforts helping EF Education-Easypost to pick up the Team Prize at the Pays de la Loire Tour, followed by team selections for two of the most famous spring classics, Paris Roubaix and Amstel Gold. Huge congratulations to all.
