Shimano shifter compatibility with front derailleur

Hi,
My son currently has shimano 105 5800 groupset. I need to buy new cranks and looking at the newer 105 r7000. I understand that I may then need to get a new front dereailleur to accommodate slightly different spacing. So I have 2 questions that hopefully someone can help me with:
1. Do I definitely need a new front dereailleur?
2. If I do need a new FD - will my current shifter?brifter (5800) be compatible with the new r7000 FD?
Thanks for any help, great forum with excellent advice,
Kind regards,
Steve.
