After Evapo-Rust, then what?

I imagine most people here have at least heard about Evapo-Rust. It does a great job, but leaves nothing behind to protect the derusted bits. What do people use to try and minimize rust return? I'm thinking of small parts, bolts, nuts, springs, etc.
