Shimano shifter repair or transplant?

Hi all,

I've got two Shimano shifters with defects.

One st-ef50 (7-speed) with a broken lever and one st-ef50 (8-speed)with a broken cover.

I was hoping to get one working unit out if these two.

The cover won't transfer straight over, but the innards look real similar.
