Canada’s best club curling teams will gather in St. Thomas, Ont., for the 2026 Canadian Curling Club Championships, it was announced today by Curling Canada.

The event is scheduled for Nov. 22-28 at the St. Thomas Curling Club.

“We’re very excited to bring the 2026 Canadian Curling Club Championships to St. Thomas; the bid submitted by the St. Thomas Curling Club was outstanding, and made our decision easy,” said Nolan Thiessen, Chief Executive Officer of Curling Canada. “The Canadian Curling Club Championships continue to be an important element of our vision and strategy for continuing to grow the sport of curling as a sport for life in Canada, and we expect the 2026 Championships will be memorable for participants, volunteers and fans alike.”

Women’s and men’s champions from Curling Canada’s 14 Member Associations will be competing in St. Thomas in the 17th edition of the Canadian Curling Club Championships.

It will be the first time that St. Thomas has hosted the Canadian Curling Club Championships, and it’s the first time the club will have hosted a Curling Canada event since 2002, when the Canadian Senior Women’s and Men’s Championships were staged there. It was a successful event for the host province, as Ontario teams skipped by Anne Dunn and Bob Fedosa claimed the women’s and men’s titles respectively.

Previously, the St. Thomas club hosted the 1978 Canadian Senior Men’s Championship, when Saskatchewan’s Team Art Knutson claimed gold.

“St. Thomas is thrilled to welcome the Canadian Curling Club Championships to our city in 2026,” said St. Thomas Mayor Joe Preston. “The St. Thomas Curling Club is a cornerstone of our community, and this event gives us the chance to showcase not only a top-tier facility, but also the spirit and hospitality of our residents and volunteers. It’s not every day we get to host a national sporting event of this scale, and we look forward to sharing everything that makes St. Thomas such a great place to live, visit, and play.”

In the history of the Canadian Curling Club Championships, Ontario teams have captured a leading five men’s titles, most recently in 2024 at Barrie, Ont., when Jordan Keon’s team from the Richmond Hill Curling Club captured the title. Alberta is next best with four.

Manitoba has won a leading four women’s titles, while Ontario and Alberta are tied at three apiece. Ontario’s most recent women’s winner was skipped by Kerry Lackie, whose Kitchener team won in 2014 at Halifax.

Alberta and Ontario teams have each won three women’s titles.

“We’re thrilled and humbled to have been trusted by Curling Canada with this opportunity to host the 2026 Canadian Curling Club Championships,” said Peter Inch, Chair of the St. Thomas Host Committee. “We’re ready to get to work to make sure this event is a success on and off the ice.”

At the 2024 Canadian Curling Club Championships in Barrie, Nova Scotia’s Team Michelle Armstrong (Lower Sackville) won the women’s title.

The 2025 Canadian Curling Club Championships will be played Nov. 18-23 at the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg.

“There are an engaged, enthusiastic and committed host committee and group of volunteers in St. Thomas that will be working very hard over the next year to welcome this wonderful event,” said Matt Allen, Executive Director of Curling Ontario. “The Canadian Curling Club Championships give grassroots curlers an amazing opportunity to not only compete, but build friendships that last for a lifetime, and St. Thomas will be a perfect location to do both.”
