CURLSASK is thrilled to announce a new series of 6 innovative curling “try it” clinics.
The goal of the Accessible Curling Experiences – Give it a Go! is for youth and adults with a disability to have FUN playing the sport, make connections with fellow community members, and learn about Saskatchewan’s official provincial sport through adaptive sport (wheelchair and stick curling).
The Accessible Curling Experiences will expand the sport to non-traditional curling populations, such as people with disabilities, New Canadians, Indigenous, BIPOC, and 2SLGBTQIA in the Regina area.
“We are thrilled to receive the Adapted Sport & Recreation funding to support our new initiative Accessible Curling Experiences – Give it a Go,” said Dustin Mikush, Community Development Manager, CURLSASK. “We are striving to make our sport more inclusive and through this pilot program, we hope to grow this program province wide in the future.”
“We’re really excited to be able to distribute this funding to organizations like CURLSASK that do such amazing work in our community. In its first two years, the Adapted Sport & Recreation funding stream has supported dozens of organizations with important initiatives that improve the accessibility of recreation and leisure in our city. We can’t wait to see how Sask Curl’s initiative expands access to curling for people with disabilities,” said Shayna Stock, City of Regina Coordinator, Community Wellbeing & Inclusion.
