Iraq needed a late free kick to beat Vietnam in the Asian Cup on Tuesday.
Iraq's Ali Adnan scored with a curling free kick in the final minute as the former champions were twice forced to come from behind to beat Vietnam 3-2 in the Asian Cup on Tuesday, while Saudi Arabia eased to a 4-0 win over North Korea in the later game.
Italy-based winger Adnan placed his strike high and to the left of Vietnam goalkeeper Dang Van Lam to give 2007 winners Iraq a barely-deserved victory in their opening Group D encounter in Abu Dhabi.
