Merseyside Individual Lightning Tournament 2016

The Merseyside Individual Lightning was held at Prescot and Knotty Ash premises on Wednesday 14th December. Thirteen players took part and the contest was hard-fought. Gerry Cohen took an early lead with a run of 5 straight wins. He beat last year's winner, Nick Martin, in round 3 to become sole leader. After 5 rounds, the second score level consisted of Nick Martin and Mike Barrett. It was Mike's turn to take on Gerry and Nick was taken on by David Odunaiya. David won his game and we were all watching the top board game. Mike managed to win after a hard game and so Mike and Gerry shared the title. The presentation of certificates should take place at the AGM.

The final placings in the Individual Lightning were:

1st = Mike Barrett (Formby), Gerry Cohen (Aigburth)

3rd = Stephen Kee, Nick Martin, David Ogdunaiya (all Atticus)
