A good day for Essex

SCCU Open: Surrey 9-7 Essex
At Cheam. Story as before, encapsulated by the 'sound-bite' from Mark Murrell (who wasn't even there! - see U160 v Sussex): "An excellent performance today but not quite enough - 9-7 loss - including some brilliant individual performances." Philip Staniland subbed as skipper for Mark.

Essex Open complete the SCCU programme having scored 9-7 in all four matches - one win and three losses.

SCCU U160: Essex 9-7 Sussex
At Wanstead. A rarity in this one - a full Sussex side away from home! There were naturally some nervy moments, Essex needing to win for the SCCU U160 title, but Essex prevailed by a two point margin - the theme of the day. Essex are now SCCU U160 Champions. Kent can match the Essex points total, but Essex have the tie-break over Kent. Congratulatios to all concerned!

SCCU U120: Kent 5-7 Essex
With this away win over Kent, Essex secured second spot behind Middx who have the tie-break advantage over Essex, as well as a match in hand.
