Defensive Q-cup
A reader asked for examples of the defensive a4/b3/c3/d4 pawn formation that I mention in chapter 3 of Zuke 'Em.
I dug up some representative examples from high-level play and thought I would post them here. However, it should be noted that far more examples should abound at lower levels, where players are less likely to switch from one sector to another. This setup is thematic in that it keeps the Q-side stable so that White can attack on the K-side. However, stronger players will often switch from one side to another when they sense a new advantage to be gained.
