Grenke Chess Open LIVE

0 49

The Grenke Chess Open (classical chess) is the traditional open tournament running April 2–6, 2026, in Karlsruhe, Germany, as part of the Grenke Chess Festival. It features a €70,000 prize fund and is played over 9 rounds in a Swiss system with classical time control (90 minutes + 30 seconds per move). While the parallel Freestyle Chess Open attracts most of the absolute top stars like Carlsen, the Grenke Open still includes several strong grandmasters such as Igor Kovalenko, Pavel Eljanov, Aleksandar Indjic, Pouya Idani, Abhijeet Gupta, Jules Moussard, Luis Engel, and others. Players can switch from the classical Open to the Freestyle event until round 5, carrying over their points.
