The Grenke Open 2026 will take place from 2nd-6th April 2026. There are two tournaments taking place just like last year – the Grenke Open A, and the Grenke Freestyle Open A where all the World’s best players are taking part! This is a 9-round swiss tournament with a time control of 90 minutes + 30 second increment starting from move one. GM Harshit Raja and IM Soumya Swaminathan will be doing live commentary. This year’s Grenke Chess 2026 carries unprecedented importance. For the first time, the tournament serves as an official qualifier for the FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship 2027.
