Anish Giri is at the Candidates 2026
Anish Giri has qualified for the Candidates Chess 2026. The renowned Dutch Grandmaster is now one of the eight players that will have a shot at challenging the World Champion Gukesh.
Anish Giri remained undefeated throughout the FIDE Grand Swiss. He started with a victory in round 1, but remained under the radar until rounds 5 and 6, where he scored consecutive victories. In round 9 Anish Giri jumped to shared first and entered as co-leader in the last round. With all other top games finishing draw, Anish Giri is the sole winner of the FIDE Grand Swiss.
In the last round of the FIDE Grand Swiss Anish Giri defeated Hans Niemann with white and secured his qualification for the Candidates 2026.
