Taliban bans Chess in Afghanistan citing religious concerns

The Taliban has prohibited chess in Afghanistan. The decision is due to religious concerns. The Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice dissolved the Afghanistan Chess Federation. The Taliban considers chess "haram". This action follows increased restrictions on cultural and sporting events. The Taliban has also imposed restrictions on women's education.
