CASTLEHILL OTB QUICK-PLAY GRAND PRIX 2022-23

Congratulations to Andy Rowe (1572) on winning the Castlehill OTB Quick-Play Grand Prix title 2022-23 after finishing in 3rd place in the last event on Thursday 31st August 23 at Castlehill!

The current format, time wise is: 3 minutes + 2 seconds and this is the first time Andy has won this event in this format! But, wait… Andy has won this event in the past, 3 times in a row (2017-18 & 19) under the old time format of 5 minutes only! Impressive as always Andy and well played and deserved!

In the last round, it was good to see Vladislav Drabych (1560) at the club again after a short absence. He made sure we all knew he was back, winning on the night 7 out of 7 to finish in 1st place! When you have got it, you have got it as Roy Orbison sang!

Also down for the first time in a while was junior, Nhat Nguyen, and boy, like Vladislav, he made his presence felt, finishing in 2nd place on 6 out of 7 points! One to watch in the future if he keeps playing!

Thank you to James Anderson for running the event in my absence (playing Euan Murray in Bob Dunn Summer decider!) and showing me how it is meant to be run, like clock-work!

Thank you to everyone who took part in any or all of the 5 rounds. Your support makes all the effort worth while!

Once again congratulations to the amazing, talented, fast-thinking, Castlehill stalwart, Andy Rowe on becoming this seasons OTB Quick-Play Champion 22-23!
