Another busy night a Castlehill with 30, plus players down on the night, including guests from the newly formed Abertay University Chess Club! They have asked for our help with chess equipment for a new competition they will be running on Wed 8th March at Abertay. We invited them along to see how a chess club works in practical terms and they seemed to enjoy the night. Of course, they would, as they turned out to be very good players, some of them, very, very good players! Hopefully we can get a few to join our ranks as a second club!

As you can see, grading wise this was a no contest, but a learning curve for our juniors as they face opponents like this. Our players would have given them advice (hopefully!) and they will improve.
St Andrews Uni A(1749) 1½ – 2½ (1632) Castlehill A
Both sides were missing players on the night and had to bring in players from their lower teams. This was one hell of a result against the team that is currently leading division one and have just done the impossible by beating the unbeatable Dundee A!
