97th Argentine Absolute Chess Championship

The 97th edition of the Argentine Absolute Chess Championship will be held from 1st-10th December 2022 in Hotel Monte Claro, San Carlos de Bariloche, Rio Negro. 12 players will compete in 11 rounds (round-robin system) for the title of National Chess Champion and the prize fund of 1.000.000 ARS (~5.760eur). Time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. 

The best-rated player in Argentina, GM Alan Pichot, 2013 Argentine Champion GM Sandro Mareco and two-time National Champion of Argentina GM Fernando Peralta are the top seeds. See the complete participants list here.

The Winner of the event will become the Argentine Chess Champion for 2022 and pocket a money prize of 1.440eur. In case of a tie after 11 played rounds, the players will play a playoff match to determine the Champion.
