Glorney Festival 2022 Update!

Glorney Festival 2022
18^th to 21st July 2022

The Glorney Gilbert International is a team(s) event that has been running continuously since 1949.

Scotland’s elite junior players take on teams from England, Wales & Ireland. The Glorney will take place from 18th-21st July and will be run as a hybrid event (Played online at a pre-set destination for each home nation, but with arbiter’s on site to make sure fair-play policies are observed!).

This is a team round-robin; Time-control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds increments from move 1.

Today will see the last two rounds for any team to make a move or secure their positions!

Yesterday in round 4 unfortunately all of Scotland’s teams lost to strong English teams (Where’s Bonnie Prince Charlie when you need him!). Still like that other Scottish hero, Robert the Bruce, it’s time to pick yourself up and try again!

Glorney Cup
Scotland 1½ – 3½ England
This result puts Scotland in last place on game points (3^rd place on match points!) with two rounds left.

Gilbert
Scotland 0 – 3 England A
This puts Scotland in 3^rd place on game points, with two rounds to go.

Robinson
Scotland 2½ – 3½ England

Rishi on top board won his game against a 1914.Well played Rishi! Alas it was not enough in a very close match! Scotland sit in 3^rd place on game points, with two rounds to go.

Stokes
Scotland ½- 5½ England

After the start Scotland had winning against England in round one, this was a shock result in round 4, which puts England right back into stop spot! Just one of those matches which did not go our way. While Scotland and England sit on 6 match points each, the table I think is decided by match points and Scotland now sit in 3^rd place 4 game points behind England, and two points behind Ireland? It’s going to be a tough ask in the last two rounds and maybe a favour from another team needed?
