Declan Shafi (2222) is competing in the A-Open in the Sparkassen Chess Trophy event 2022. There are a number of events going on including a “No Castling” tournament! The event is an online tournament organised in Germany. It is a European nine rounds Swiss, with a round a day.

Declan is ranked 56^th out of 185 competitors! The event has 7 GM`s; 9 IM`s & 25 FM`s (approx) so a very strong tournament with the highest at 2634 down to 1963.

ROUND FOUR – Michael Kremser (1971) (Germany) 0 – 1 Declan Shafi (2222)
After the disappointing loss to Lars, Declan bounced back with a nice win with black against Kremser! This puts Declan in =69 place on 2 points, and with tie-break number 84^th in the standings.

His round 5 opponent today (Wed 20^th July) is Patrick Bossinger (2017) (Germany), with Declan having white.
