SCOTTISH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2022 – Murad 3rd time champion!
SCOTTISH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2022
Chess Scotland in conjunction with Edinburgh Chess Club`s Bicentennial celebrations, the 127th Scottish Chess Championship will be held at Edinburgh Chess Club, 1 Alva Street, Edinburgh.
2nd July to 10th July 22 – 9 day event
Time-Control: 90 minutes + 30 second’s increments from move one.
UPDATE: Monday 11th July – End of tournament:
Congratulations to FM Murad Abdulla (2287) on winning his 3rd Scottish Championship title! He finished on 6½ points. Tied with FM Keith Ruxton (2316) also on 6½ points, but Murad`s “performance Rating” tie-break was superior!
What a fantastic performance by Murad who once again shows us how talented he is in a strong field with four players rated higher than him! With a win in round 8, he only had to draw his last match against IM Craig Pritchett (2248) which to be honest, he never looked in any trouble!
Keith Ruxton had a blinding tournament winning 5 games and drawing 3! He lost one match and that ultimately cost him the title! Murad won 4 games, draw 5 and finished undefeated which gave him the title!
Once again congratulations to FM Murad Abdulla on winning his third Scottish title!
Thank you to all the players that took part in the Sottish Championships 2022. A big thank you to all the organisers and helpers whom without them giving up their time, this event would not have taken place! Thank you also to the Edinburgh Chess Club for the use of their premises for the championships! We wish them well in their Bicentennial celebrations for the rest of the season!
