TAFCA WINTER LEAGUE ONLINE 2020-21

Two matches were played involving Castlehill teams in division two. The first involved division two league leaders and so far undefeated Castlehill E captained Ed Walton.
Castlehill E 3, Newport Knights B 1
Congratulations to Castlehill E on another superb performance against a tricky side with some good players. This result keeps them top of the division on 12 points, 3 ahead of their nearest rivals, Castlehill F and Dundee C on 9 points. There were wins for Ed Walton (1481) against Scott Finnie (1340); Subhayu Banerjee (1444) against Angus Sneddon (1335) and Marten Kats (1203) against Newport Knights captain, Alan Wallace (1074). Marten was playing up in place of Oggy. Euan Murray (1500) was the unlucky player losing to Andy Pye (1400). There is great team spirit in this team even playing online!

Castlehill G 1, Dundee C 3
This was a tough ask as before the league started, Dundee C were firm favourites to take the top spot with experienced players like James Anderson (1540), Ray Flood (1475), Bruce Wallace (1430) and George Burton Snr (1350)! Not only that, Castlehill G has struggled to get a win or draw! Mind you they are a strong team, they have to be, their holding up the division! Innes Ford (1180), Norman Waugh (1160) and John Lynch (1043) all lost, but new player in the club, Cosmo Bobak (1200)est had a big bang moment and blew James Anderson’s universe to bit’s! A star performance from Cosmo who look’s a bright comet within our chess club! Congratulation’s to Dundee C who keeps their league campaign on track. Dundee C has still to play Castlehill E so still all to play for!
