(to see Intro report part one click “HERE“)

Both Castlehill Chess Club and Dundee Chess Club once again joined forces under the banner “Dundee City” to enter two teams in this world wide competition.

FORMAT
Time-Control: 10 minutes + 5 seconds. You play two games against the same opponent (black & white). Four boards are the minimum, but the only limit to how many boards you can play, is the number of players you can muster! It`s all played on “chess.com”

Round four saw both Dundee City A & B teams in action.

7/02/21 – Dundee City A 7 – 5 Pett Wood and Orpington Chess Club
There was not much between the sides and the ground work for laying the foundations of a win were made by Andrew Greet IM (Bd 1), Stephen Hogg (Bd 3), Declan Shafi (Bd6) all finishing one a piece.

Michael Grove (Bd 5) had one of those nightmare nights and lost both games in double quick-time!

The duel in the Dundee City crown was the double diamond pair of Andrew Wright and Edwin Spencer, both winning 2 – 0 on the night. Cracking play from everyone which keeps the Dundee City A bandwagon rolling having now won all four of their matches! What a great start!

Results (so far)

Round 1: 11/11/20: Dundee City A 8 – 2 Port Elizabeth Chess Club B (5 boards)
Round 2: 28/11/20: Dundee City A 5 – 3 Team Kauai (4 boards)
Round 3: 02/01/21: Dundee City A 12 – 0 Hawaii Scholastic (6 boards)

 —————————————————–

12/02/21 – Dundee City B 8½ – 7½ Dragons Fire A
This was a photo finish win in a superb match on all 8 boards! Dundee City B had a couple of new players playing their first match in this competition with mixed results. Dariusz Kosznik ( won both of his matches, while John Robertson Jnr, Rishi Vijayakumar J9 and Richard Kynoch got 1½ points each! Sam Gregory chipped in with one win. David Findlay (Bd 1) drew both his games, while, both Alan Borwell and James Anderson had good games but did not get the rub of the green and lost both matches. But this is a team game and results and form change with each match, but Dundee City A & B are a tight team pool and it shows in every match they play!

This result makes it 3 wins out of four against strong teams!

Round 1: 15/11/20: Dundee City B 6½ – 1½ Cieszynskie Legendy B (4 boards)
Round 2: 29/11/20: Dundee City B 5½ – 6½ Trinity College Dublin (6 boards)
Round 3: 18/01/21: Dundee City B 7 – 3 Bon Accord B (5 boards)
