The Chess.com Speed Chess Championship Starts November 1

0 1

I don't know if I'll blog it, or blog it consistently, but I'll certainly be following the action in Chess.com's 2020 Speed Chess Championship. It starts on Sunday, November 1 and runs through December 13. There are 16 players who will face off in a series of knockout matches, with the following first round pairings that run from the first through the 16th of the month (seeds given in parentheses, and I'm giving the pairings in rating order, not by brackets or scheduled dates):

  • Nakamura (1) vs. Martirosyan (16)
  • Carlsen (2) - Maghsoodloo (15)
  • Vachier-Lagrave (3) - Sarin (14)
  • So (4) - Abdusattarov (13)
  • Duda (5) - Caruana (12)
  • Nepomniachtchi (6) - Aronian (11)
  • Artemiev (7) - Giri (10)
  • Firouzja (8) - Fedoseev (9)

It should be exciting...and I'm looking forward to the 85th final between Carlsen and Nakamura.
