The FAA proposes to track all drones
NEWS – The FAA has recently put forth a proposal that would allow them to track all drones over 0.55 pounds, even drones for hobbyists like those reviewed on this site. They want to force drones to broadcast their ID and location, like a transponder for civilian aircraft, and their controllers to transmit that same information to the FAA over the internet. The FAA pitches this as a requirement for a commercial system whereby Amazon drones could fly safely when near other drones; unfortunately it’s a “big brother” solution that takes away a few more pieces of our privacy and gives them to the government.
