CLUB NIGHT REPORT: (Thurs 29th Aug 19)
This was the last night of the 2018-19 season and we finished it off with a bang! The Ladder final & the finish of the Junior Club Championship was on the cards tonight!

JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to Ramit Kanodia J12 (882) on winning and defending his Castlehill Junior Club Championship 2018-19! It was well deserved and once again, Ramit proves he is the strongest junior (below 14) in the club. He did not get it all his own way as Rishabh Akula J14 (683) did beat him once and Alexander Barron-Majerik J8 (216) did have the opportunity to beat Ramit in the last match of the tournament as Ramit took his eye of the game! But sometimes you need a bit of luck as well as good play to win a title! Well played young man! Rishabh Akula finished in runner-up spot and if it was not for his one slip up against Alexander he would have tied with Ramit, but it was not to be. Next year who knows!

A big thank you to all our juniors who took part in this year Junior Club Championship. We really are a blessed club with our juniors.

LADDER FINAL
Congratulations to Keith Rose on winning the Ladder Final 2018-19! He did not have it all his own way and had to climb a few rungs, but just proved good enough to over come the odds! This is the 3rd time in 5 years Keith has won which is some record! Indeed between Keith Rose & Ray Noble, they are the only names on the trophy in the last 8 years!  Jan Barron-Majerik finished runner-up, with Ray Noble in 3rd place and Colin Young (well out graded by his 3 opponents) finished in 4th place. All 4 players should be proud of their achievement in reaching the Ladder final in a very strong field!

Once again congratulations to Keith Rose, Ladder champion 2018-19.

Well that officially ends the 2018-19 season (a few stragglers still to finish off!) and once again what a year!

Congratulations to all our trophy winners for 2018-19. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves this season at Castlehill Chess Club Dundee! Keith Rose and myself would like to thank you all for your support this season and making our job a pleasure to do. Without your support, it would not be the chess club it is, thank you all!

The new season (2019-20) starts with our AGM on Thursday 12th September, 7:30pm, and we would like to see as many of you as possible at this meeting. Yes it can be the boring side of things, but this is where all the decisions for the 2019-20 season are made and “YOUR” opinions matter to us!
