Essex U14s/U130s have retained the SCCU Championship, beating Oxon 15-9 in the final round, played at Margaretting Village Hall. The match sheet is HERE - in R1 players on the same board play each other, in R2 pairs of boards cross-pair, so Board 1 plays Board 2 and Board 2 plays Board 1, etc. In the three cornered contest, Essex had lost 14-10 to Richmond JCC, but Oxon had beaten Richmond by 15½-8½. Essex therefore needed to score 15 game points in this delayed final fixture against Oxon to retain the title on Game Points; they hit the mark precisely.
The previous success was played in 2016-17, so this is the 2017-18 competition, deferred into this season due to a lack of Oxon availability of calendar space.
