The Armenian women’s team participating in the 43rd International Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia gained advantage over Russia in a recent match.
The Armenian female players beat the Russian rivals 3-1 in the sixth round.
Lilit Mkrtchyan, who played with white figures, gained advantage over Alexandra Goryachkina; Siranuysh Ghazaryan defeated Natalia Pogonina.
Emma Danielyan evened her score with Alexandra Kosteniuk, with Anna Sargsyan sharing her result with Valentina Gunina.
The team, now scoring 11, continues the matches on an equal footing with the championship’s leaders, United States and Georgia.
