The 93rd French Chess Championship took place in Nimes 18th to 26th August 2018. In the Championship there was a three way tie for first between Tigran Gharamian, Yannick Gozzoli and Romain Edouard tied on 6/9. After a blitz tie-break all-play-all Gharamian and Edouard tied and played a further tie-break match won by Gharamian after winning a final Armageddon game. Things were a little cleaner in the women's event Pauline Guichard scored 7.5/9 a point clear of Sophie Milliet.
