Netflix is Adding a Popular Series Produced by Leonardo DiCaprio

The calendar is about to hit April, and as always, Netflix will be adding to its already extensive streaming library during the upcoming month. One of the new options is a 2025 docuseries produced by legendary actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Sitting Bull, which was released on May 27-28, 2025, is a two-part documentary on the iconic Native American leader. It is one of several HISTORY Channel titles coming to Netflix in April, according to What's on Netflix.

"As American settlers relentlessly move west during the mid 19th century, they increasingly encroach on Native American lands, until a legendary Lakota leader emerges, one determined to fight back," reads the official History Channel synopsis for Sitting Bull. "From Executive Producers Leonardo DiCaprio, Crystal Echo Hawk, Larry Pourier, Dee Jay Two Bears and Stephen David, and in partnership with IllumiNative, Sitting Bull is a four-hour documentary event charting the extraordinary life of the renowned leader of the Lakota people. Refusing to back down, Sitting Bull gathers an unprecedented alliance of Native nations, battles General Custer at Little Bighorn, becomes an international celebrity with Buffalo Bill Cody, and fights against seemingly impossible odds to save his people and their culture. Narrated by Mo Brings Plenty."

When is 'Sitting Bull' arriving on Netflix?

The streaming service will add the historical project on April 13, What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore reports.

Each episode runs approxminately 90 minutes.

The second documentary on that list was also produced by DiCaprio in 2018. The Men Who Built America: Frontiersmen is a four-part, eight-hour series that chronicles the lives of Daniel Boone, Andrew Jackson and others.
