Golden Globes Make Decision About Nikki Glaser After 2 Years as Host

0 2

Nikki Glaser wasn't afraid to push the envelope at the 2026 Golden Globes on January 11, going as far as to rib the station that airs the award ceremony itself, CBS. Despite -- or perhaps because of -- her comedic daring, the comedian will return as host for the third time at the 84th Golden Globes in 2027.

The announcement was made in a press release on March 11, the Wednesday before the 2026 awards season officially concludes with the 98th Academy Awards. The Golden Globes, touting itself as "the first major award show of the season," signed a three-year contract with Glaser in 2024.

Glaser Ties Globes Record

At the 84th Golden Globes ceremony, which will take place January 10, 2027, Glaser will tie the record set by Ricky Gervais and duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for longest consecutive hosts with three years each. Glaser also became the first woman to host the Globes solo at her first run at the gig in 2025.

The 41-year-old comedian was well reviewed for her performances at the 2025 and 2026 ceremonies, and was widely credited with bringing a breath of fresh air to an award show that had been struggling for years prior. Glaser is the first host to return for multiple years since NBC refused to broadcast the ceremony in 2022 due to a lack of any Black journalists in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

“We are thrilled to welcome Nikki back to the Golden Globes stage in 2027,” Golden Globes President Helen Hoehne said in the press release, "her comedic precision, authenticity, and ability to command the room is unmatched, and we can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve for next year’s show.”

What Glaser Has Said About the Opportunity

Glaser expressed interest in returning for a third time shortly before the most recent ceremony. "I’ll probably want to do it a third time," she told Variety, "there’s something really satisfying about when you get it right, when you put in so much work."

Several moments from Glaser's sets during the 2026 show went viral, including her opening monologue which garnered over 14 million views. On returning for a third time, Glaser says in the press release, "I’m thrilled to host the Golden Globes for a third time, not only because it’s the greatest gig I’ve ever had, but because my sister has three kids and now we will be equal in the eyes of my parents and the Lord.”

The 84th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air on January 10, 2027 on CBS.
