Amber Glenn Breaks Silence on Retirement After 2026 Winter Olympics

United States figure skating star Amber Glenn suffered a disappointing run in the Olympics, but managed to end on a high.

Glenn entered the free skate portion of the women's singles skating event at the Olympics in 13th place after suffering a brutal mistake that ended her medal hopes. Instead of giving up, though, the American star battled back with the third highest scoring free skate and managed to finish in fifth place.

Will Amber Glenn Retire After Olympics?

Following her skate, Glenn opened up on a potential retirement when asked if she plans to attempt to compete in the 2030 Winter Olympics.

“Well, I’ll be 30. I’m lucky my body is holding itself together right now — honestly it barely is," she said at the time. Fast forward to two days later and Glenn offered an update and made it clear she plans to remain in skating, though not necessarily as a competitor.

“I’m going to stay in skating for as long as they’ll have me. I love this sport. I love being involved in it. I love the people. I want to continue to make it a better, safer place for young athletes,” Glenn said.

While she contemplates the future, she did suggest one final season might be in the cards.

“I will reevaluate after the season’s over and see how I’m doing physically and mentally. I am not opposed to doing one last season hoorah, just for fun and seeing, ‘Hey, let’s see if I can do a quad,'" she added.

Glenn isn't leaving the Olympics empty handed, despite finishing fifth in the women's singles competition as she helped the United States win gold in the team event earlier in the games.
