Massive Sinkhole Nearly Swallows Workers Who Scramble as Road Collapses

0 2

Dozens of construction workers literally ran for their lives when a giant sinkhole nearly swallowed them, and the ordeal was all caught on CCTV footage.

The near-deadly catastrophe occurred on a busy street in Shanghai, China, where reports say a massive group of construction workers gathered to continue work at a new junction in the city.

But Mother Nature had other plans as the ground beneath them suddenly collapsed. You can see in the footage dozens of construction workers scurrying away to find more stable ground.

The sinkhole, which occurred just days ago, swallowed construction equipment, including what appears to be a tanker. As the ground gives way, a plume of dust fills the air as everyone watches in awe of what's unfolding before them.

Miraculously, nobody was injured.

As for what caused the giant sinkhole, there are unconfirmed reports that a water leak at a nearby construction site caused the ground to give way. It's unclear at the moment how long it will take the city to fix the significant damage to the intersection.

The giant sinkhole is reminiscent of another sinkhole that occurred in Mexico City back in September, when footage showed a sinkhole swallowing a delivery truck in Mexico City’s borough of Iztapalapa, the most populous in Mexico City, with nearly 2 million residents.

The Mayor’s Office later stated that the collapse was caused by a failure of the town’s drainage system.
