Tracy Zamot, the veteran music publicist who represented acts including Phil Collins and Led Zeppelin, has died aged 56.

Her family announced her passing on Facebook on Tuesday, February 3. She was reportedly suffering from a prolonged illness.

Born in New York, Zamot climbed her way to the top of the corporate music ladder throughout the '90s. She entered the industry as a publicist for Atlantic Records, where she eventually became VP. During her time for the company, she worked alongside artists such as Matchbox Twenty, Rush, and the Pet Shop Boys.

After ten years working for Atlantic Records, Zamot moved to Virgin EMI in a similar role. Here, she worked with Lenny Kravitz, Iggy Pop, and Damon Albarn. She later moved to Universal Motown Records, where she managed a nine-person publicity team and oversaw the careers of Ashanti and Lil' Wayne.

After a brief stint in producing, Zamot ended up as the head of communications for the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Her bold personality and outgoing demeanour made her a standout of the industry for many up-and-coming artists throughout the '90s and '00s.

Zamot is survived by one daughter. Her husband, John Loscalzo, passed away in 2015.
