Grammy-Nominated Rapper Travis Scott To Appear in Nolan’s 'The Odyssey'

0 3

The latest trailer for Christopher Nolan's upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey has revealed that Grammy-nominated rapper and Houston native Travis Scott will appear in the film.

The teaser, which was shown during Fox's broadcast of the AFC Championship on Sunday, offers a brief look at Scott's unnamed character. He appears alongside Tom Holland's Telemachus and Jon Bernthal's Menelaus, giving a speech to a group of soldiers as they prepare for a coming battle.

Clips of the scene quickly went viral on the internet, with many fans confused about the rapper's involvement in the film. He hadn't been previously announced among the rest of the cast, and neither Nolan nor Scott have yet commented on his surprise appearance.

Christopher Nolan And Travis Scott Have Worked Together Before

Although acting is somewhat of a new venture for Travis Scott, this isn't his first collaboration with the Oscar-winning director. Scott recorded the song "The Plan" for Tenet, Nolan's critically divisive sci-fi movie from 2020.

Speaking with GQ in 2020, Nolan described Travis Scott as "the final piece of a yearlong puzzle." His music became the soundtrack of Tenet, and the rapper even had some "immediate, insightful, and profound" suggestions for Ludwig Göransson's original score.

There's been no official announcement regarding which character Scott will be playing in The Odyssey, but it's likely that his involvement will only be brief. The film has already collected an immense cast of talent to play the Greek epic's countless iconic roles, including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong'o.

'The Odyssey' Is Nolan's Most Highly Anticipated Film In Years

The Oydssey is shaping up to be Nolan's most impressive achievement to date. The entire film has been shot on IMAX cameras, marking an industry first for the format. Nolan has pioneered a new technology called "the blimp", which reduces the noise made by the large cameras to allow them to be used on a tighter, more close-up scale.

Speaking with Empire, Nolan described the technology as a "game changer," adding that "you can be shooting a foot from [an actor’s] face while they’re whispering and get usable sound. What that opens up are intimate moments of performance on the world’s most beautiful format.”"
