Jeff Bezos Puts Mysterious Spaceship-Like Structure Outside His $175 Million Mansion
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren, have placed an unusual building in the yard of their new $175 million mansion.
According to photos published by The New York Post, the construction looks like a silver spaceship. The Post called it a "UFO-like structure." Bezos bought the Beverly Hills property in 2020 for $175 million, including a $10 million lot, according to The Post.
But what is it? That's up for conjecture, but there is a popular theory.
The Spaceship-Like Structure May Be a Sauna
According to The Post, it's possible that the spaceship-like structure may be "a space-themed sauna. It may originate from a boutique design firm." Bezos, of course, owns the Blue Origin space travel company, which briefly sent his wife into space along with Katy Perry and other celebrities.
Realtor.com called the building "a UFO-shaped structure that is believed to serve as a custom sauna." According to Realtor.com, the suspected designer is Timothy Oulton.
Oulton's website contains a number of custom designs, including one called "Apollo" that looks similar to the spaceship in Bezos's yard.
"Apollo by Timothy Oulton Studio represents the journeys that we go on through time and space in search of design inspiration. Built to the same scale as NASA's Apollo 11 space capsule, and clad in polished steel panels, Apollo is a luxury, intimate lounge adaptable for many uses, from a private VIP seating zone to a workspace meeting capsule or dining pod," the website says.
"Apollo is made to order with a choice of interior finishes available, it can also be adapted for outdoor use." It takes 1,448 hours to create, the website says.
The studio's website contains other eclectic designs, including a yellow submarine and "decompression chamber." The website doesn't list prices. That shouldn't be a problem for Bezos, though, as he was the world's third richest man, with a net worth of about $235 billion,Forbes reported in December 2025.

According to Realtor.com, Bezos's California property was recently the site of Kris Jenner's birthday party, although Bezos's primary residence is in Florida.
Bezos's property portfolio is believed to be worth about $700 million, Architectural Digest reported.
In 2023, Bezos announced on Instagram that he and Sanchez were making Miami their primary home. "Seattle has been my home since 1994 when I started Amazon out of my garage. That’s my dad behind the camera in this video, touring Amazon’s first 'office,'" he wrote.
"My parents have always been my biggest supporters. They recently moved back to Miami, the place we lived when I was younger (Miami Palmetto High class of ’82 — GO Panthers!) I want to be close to my parents, and Lauren and I love Miami. Also, Blue Origin’s operations are increasingly shifting to Cape Canaveral. For all that, I’m planning to return to Miami, leaving the Pacific Northwest," he added.
"I’ve lived in Seattle longer than I’ve lived anywhere else and have so many amazing memories here. As exciting as the move is, it’s an emotional decision for me. Seattle, you will always have a piece of my heart."
